Curragh Mine, near Blackwater, is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in the Queensland Bowen Basin. Curragh produces more than 12 million tonnes of coal per year with a large mining fleet which includes 4 large draglines. Coal is mined from two mining areas and washed through two large plants and a number of different metallurgical products are produced. The combination of scale, mining areas and different products makes this a challenging and satisfying place to work for any technical professional.
About the Role
Coronado Curragh is currently seeking an experienced Data Systems Technician to be based at the Curragh Mine. This is a permanent full-time role.
In this role you will be part of a team that will perform project and maintenance works on the mine site.
You will work on a 7:7 roster and you will perform installation works, break down repairs and routine maintenance on a variety of communication systems and equipment.
These works include but is not limited to UHF & VHF System installation and maintenance on both analogue and digital platforms in active mining environments, telemetry systems, PLC systems, two-way radio repeater infrastructure, optical fibre and copper networks including installation, termination and testing, Microwave Systems, and bench level electronic repairs.
To be successful in this role, you must be someone who is highly motivated and takes pride in the work that you deliver. In addition, you will need to have:
- Experience with digital radio platform DMR and conventional analog;
- Experience designing, programming, configuration, installation, fault finding and fault rectification of radio communication equipment;
- Current drivers licence;
- Strong focus on safety;
- An interested in learning the latest generation digital equipment;
- Strong IT skills;
- Excellent troubleshooting skills; and
- Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team;
